About Early Records

EARLY RECORDS: Pop, Reimagined - Early Records, started by acclaimed singer, recording artist and visionary Nicolette, was named after her first album, “Now Is Early”, which was something her mother often used to say in their native language, Ibo. Roughly translated, it means “it’s never too late to do anything”; however, a lot of people at the time took it to mean that her album was ahead of its time, and she has rightfully continued to be seen as a musical innovator and sonic pioneer through her career - her genre-bending, multi-influenced pop stylings have been resonating deeply with audiences for decades.

Known for her groundbreaking solo work, iconic collaborations with Massive Attack, and rapturous live shows, she now also leads Early Records, a record label founded by her to release unique high-vibe pop music (including her own) that uplifts, entertains and transforms.

The essence of Early Records: Expanding the definition of pop through originality, playful expression, and integrity. Early Records is a home and amplifier for unique and entertaining pop. It offers catchy but uncompromised music as an enjoyable and authentic alternative to the norms - music that expresses who we are, and reflects our true nature; deeply, authentically, and with flair.

Mission: to expand the boundaries of pop music with heart and originality — showcasing vibrant, high-integrity music that elevates minds and opens spirits wide.

About the Role

Hi, I’m Nicolette - a singer, recording artist, producer, sonic mystic and record label owner. I’ve been making a new double album for several years. This project is a new experience in pop music: transcendental, multicultural, groundbreaking. It’s been made with care, love, deep intention, and the help of musicians from all over the world. It’s a mixture of electronica and live instruments. I'm looking for an aligned mix engineer to mix the album.

Key Responsibilities

I’m looking for someone who is not afraid of extreme frequencies and unusual textures, but who can keep the bounciness and give everything enough spaciousness. I’m looking for a mix engineer who’s into organic, cross-cultural, heart-centred sound. Someone who wants to help bring clarity without losing the vitality and unique character of the music.

Must have a feel for both electronic/experimental textures and organic orchestral/live instrumental/vocal elements, and mixtures of the two.

Must respect dynamics that are innovative and unusual, whilst mindful of a pop sensibility and a big joyful sound.

Must be into electronica and bass, as well as music that mixes and mingles genres.

I’m particularly looking for someone comfortable with a wide frequency range, strong low-end, and more quirky textures while keeping a sense of openness and energy.

Must be excited to work with unusual and innovative sounds and textures, and find out-of-the-box solutions to amplifying these. I want them to bring sonic adventurousness plus a deep love of my work.

Must be willing to travel to a studio of my choice if necessary.

Must be high-vibrational and heart-led; kind, with integrity and total creative excitement and enthusiasm for the project.

If your heart says yes and you want to know more, drop me a message; I look forward to hearing from you.
