Gina Jeanz: Music Producer DJ

“Gina is a Namibian Music producer based in Cape Town she is one of the very few women in Africa producing electronic music. She has been composing her own tracks for over 14 years and in the last four years has been visibly performing and growing her audience. I want to see her celebrated for her contributions as an Electronic producer and Woman in music mainly because the industry itself lacks support for women of colour especially in South Africa where she is based. Shes also a foreigner in SA so the journey has been a long one. As someone close to her I see how hard she’s worked and over the last couple of years, whatever she makes financially from her gigs and production she puts back into her craft and growing her brand. She understands sacrifice and I absolutely admire her worth ethic.” - Mousa Sow

Laura Bettinson/lau.ra: Artist & DJ

“Laura has just become a mother for the 1st time. Her baby arrived 8 weeks early. She took it in her stride, and after 3 weeks in hospital is back home looking after her new family and planning the future of her career. Prior to the birth, Laura worked so hard putting together a whole host of her own music, collaborations and remixes. This helped put together a schedule of releases that would stretch over a year after the baby's birth, to allow her to focus on family life but continue to sustain her work. There will be a vinyl EP release as well within this first year. With all artwork, press releases and images already put together, Laura will be able to manage a healthy balance which is so important. I think this is an incredible feat and I am really excited to see how everything comes together.”- Dan Garber

Recently she joined Jazz FM as a presenter and her show reached a lot of music lovers who believe her show is something that delivers music they never heard before. As a musician her creativity seems to have no end and she does not accept anything below the level of perfection. Her music and work as a presenter entails more then music. She connects us listeners with the culture, gives us a better understanding of where particular genres come from and what cross-pollination in music is and how it changes our world.”- Tomasz Bura

Sanaya Ardeshir: Composer/Musician/Producer

“Sanaya has been a musician since a very young age, but what is inspiring about her is the choice to carve her own path. Her focus on her work makes her a spectacular artist/musician. I've been inspired by her discipline, her music and her kindness. She now focuses on deep listening and how it translates into field recording, which are fields that are largely unexplored in the Indian context but the discovery of which she is very ably spearheading.”- Surbhi Mittal

Stranger Souma: Label founder & Sound designer

“As an electronic music producer based in Casablanca, I believe that her role in the north African cultural community is pretty efficient. Sharing knowledge, access, teaching the how-to to other women in the region has started already rising awareness and moving the female north african scene I electronic music.

Nominating this remarkable and impressive woman will never raise a Doubt about her modest self. And I believe that modesty, humbleness, the will of a continuous evolution and the desire to share all of this along the constant artistic search and along the professional career. Is exactly what qualifies a human being from an Artist to an honorable artist. Someone who you really say : she said so !”-
